STARRED REVIEW BY – John Charles  BOOKLIST

“American heiress Daisy Bumgarten has come to England with one goal in mind: to find herself a duke to marry. Setting her sights on Arthur Graham, the future Duke of Meridian, Daisy is fully prepared to do whatever it takes-including putting butterflies in her hair–to capture Arthur’s affection, when she unsuspectedly encounters a stumblimg block: Lord Ashton Graham, Arthur’s devastingly tall, dark, and sexy younger brother.

The smoldering sexual chemistry Krahn concocts between her protanonists is the very essence of romance,

Tasked by his family with protecting Arthur from the title-grabbing clutches of Daisy, Ashton uses every seductive trick he knows to derail  Daisy’s plan, only to find he is the one in danger of failling for the audacious American. After a seven year hiatus, Krahn is back, and romance readers will be thrilled to learn she has brought her A game. The smoldering sexual chemistry Krahn concocts between her protagonists is the very essence of romance, and the novel is not only brimming with Krahn’s deliciously disarming wit, it is also graced with an endlessly entertaining cast of secondary characters.

A GOOD DAY TO MARRY A DUKE by Betina Krahn (Zebra MM/December 2017/978-1-4201-4347-8)

“When newly rich Daisy Bumgarten’s free-spirited Nevada ways collide poorly with the notions of the snobbish New York elite, her social-climbing mother sweeps her off to England with one goal in mind: Daisy must marry a duke to ensure her younger sisters’ futures. Guilt-ridden Daisy agrees, determined to become oh-so-proper and prove herself worthy of a duke’s notice. She succeeds remarkably well, until Lord Ashton Graham, the targeted noble’s skeptical brother, sets out to expose her true motives but ends up being captivated by the irrepressible Daisy in the process. Quick wit, bright humor, and a cast of vivid characters result in a refreshing romance that is vintage Krahn. VERDICT A brilliant start to an engaging new trilogy – and the author’s first historical in a decade. Krahn (Soldier’s Rescue) lives in  FL.”

A GOOD DAY TO MARRY A DUKE by Betina Krahn (Zebra MM/December 2017/978-1-4201-4347-8)

Krahn’s Sin & Sensibility Victorian romance is a fine beginning to a promising series. Wealthy Daisy Bumgarten has been shunned by New York high society for her new money and brazen, uncouth ways. She travels to London for a fresh start, planning to marry a nobleman and pave the way for her three younger sisters to do the same. She has hopes of landing Arthur Graham, the Duke of Meridian, but her plans are thwarted when his younger brother, Ashton, an impoverished scoundrel, agrees to assist his conniving relatives by seducing Daisy and discrediting her claims of having noble English ancestry.

“Krahn’s Sin & Sensibility Victorian romance is a fine beginning to a promising series… Full of wit, deceit, manipulation, and a throughly entertaining mix of American and English cultural references, this amusing romance has set the bar high for the sequels.”

Ashton has always been protective of his bookworm older brother and refuses to let anyone manipulate him for his title. As Daisy and Ashton both seek to conclusively prove or disprove her heritage, respectively, they uncover more common interests and goals-including their intense attraction to each other-than historical documents, but familial obligations and Arthur’s growing interest inDaisy hinder their chance at happinest. Full of wit, deceit, manipulation, and a throughly entertaining mix of American and English cultural references, this amusing romance has set the bar high for the sequels.

BETROTHAL OR BUST
Beautiful American silver heiress Daisy Bumgarten is determined to capture a duke. She needs the cachet of marriage to an English peer to launch her three younger sisters into society. Her plan to attract the Duke of Meridian is going well when his younger brother, Lord Ashton Graham interferes. Ashton is handsome, charming and just what Daisy’s rebellious heart and body wants. But Ashton isn’t the duke, and even worse, he’s openly determined to prevent Daisy’s marrying his brother. When the Duke’s aged relations demand Daisy provide proof of her family’s connection to the peerage, Ashton is assigned to verify her search. Together, they set out to track down birth records. What they find is astonishing, and Daisy will have to choose between following her heart or sticking stubbornly to her original plan.

Betina Krahn’s delightful A Good Day to Marry a Duke features a plucky, determined heroine and a handsome hero who’s cynical without tipping over into outright misanthropy. Both find their hearts overruling their sensible plans, and watching them struggle to find their way is a pleasure. With vivid historical details, a lively supporting cast and plenty of sexual heat, readers are certain to impatiently await the next title in the series.

“The only thing the world needs

-Betina Krahn

Dear reader,

SENDING YOU A huge Bouquet, A BIG hug, and many thanks!

Dear Reader,

You are what makes writing worthwhile.

I was drawn to historical romance because of my lifelong love of history.  At the time, historical romance was dramatic, full of peril and persuasion, and often involved overwhelming conflict.  As I read and began to write, I realized my favorite passages were always ones with glimpses of humor and the unexpected.  More and more, humor crept into my writing and I was soon classed as a “love and laughter” writer.  Some said that humor in a book meant it was not to be taken seriously, but I have heard from people going through difficult times that reading my books has given them release and a respite from their problems. That is serious enough for me.  Nothing pleases me more than being associated with the precious and uniquely human ability to laugh.

Your enjoyment and enthusiastic response have made my career a journey of discovery and delight.  Each book has taught me something about human nature and the intricacies of the human heart, and my goal is always to share those insights with you in storylines that are fresh and fun and heartwarming.

I want to thank you, dear reader, for reading and loving my books, and for sharing some of the love and hope you find in the pages of my books with the world around you.

Here’s hoping you find “love and laughter” when you need it most.
